Introduction to Bamboo Salt

Bamboo salt was developed by Ilhun Kim (1909–1992), a Korean Oriental doctor. His innovative method for creating bamboo salt is detailed in his book, The Universe and the Divine’s Medicine. Dr. Kim devoted much of his life to mastering the process of producing bamboo salt, which involves the use of sea salt, bamboo, clay, and pinewood.

The production process of bamboo salt is intricate and time-intensive, requiring advanced facilities. To begin, sea salt is packed into bamboo trunks, with the open ends sealed using clay. These trunks are then placed in an iron kiln and subjected to high heat by burning pinewood for 8–15 hours. This results in salt pillars, which are ground into a fine powder. The powdered salt is repacked into bamboo trunks and undergoes repeated burning cycles, up to eight times.

For the ninth cycle, the temperature is raised to 1,300°C, causing the salt to melt into a lava-like state. This molten salt is then cooled in bowls, where it hardens into a solid, stone-like form.

The repetitive process not only purifies the salt by removing impurities but also enhances the absorption of beneficial minerals from bamboo, clay, and pinewood. Dr. Kim discovered that prolonged heating significantly increases the salt's medicinal properties. Bamboo salt has been used in Oriental medicine to treat a variety of ailments, including gum disease, bronchitis, gastritis, diabetes, hypertension, and even cancer.

Why Choose Bamboo Salt?

Salt plays a vital role in the human body, aiding in the transport of nutrients to cells and maintaining hydration. It is especially important for restoring electrolyte balance after sweating or diarrhea. However, bamboo salt offers distinct advantages over regular salt due to its mineral-rich composition, including potassium, calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, iron, and zinc, among others.

The unique manufacturing process enhances the mineral content of bamboo salt, allowing it to promote the removal of excess sodium from the body. This regulation helps maintain fluid balance and supports overall health. Unlike regular salt, bamboo salt does not cause thirst, as harmful substances are eliminated during production.

Bamboo salt is also beneficial for regulating blood pressure. Its daily consumption supports blood vessel health, helping to maintain stable blood pressure levels. Additionally, it is an effective choice for individuals looking to manage or prevent hypertension.
